In front of the glorious KVS building one can find an intermediate space, flanked by the Lakenstraat and a footpath. An inconspicuous space with a few flower boxes and people passing by. The scenography for kfda wants to explore the potential of this public intermediate space, forming the entrance and meeting place of the festival. A temporary canopy, inspired by the city canopies of the KVS, opens the square both towards the street and towards the pedestrian zone, and creates an urban esplanade for strolling, meeting and sitting. One enters the KVS between two decorative banners dividing the space into different zones: a bar, entrance desk, bookshop and corridor with leftover spaces to linger. Downstairs one can relax in the withdrawn atrium armpits. Upstairs lectures, workshops and parties take place in a setting between reminiscent banners. Colourful lifting nets and ratchet streps connect places, objects and people, inside and outside, before and after opening hours.
