‘Situations in Le Corbusier’s Apartment’ /
‘Situations dans l’Appartment Le Corbusier’
(2011) HD video projection, photo-sequence projection

A dancer is placed in Le Corbusier’s apartment in Paris to uncover his system of body measurements in the architecture of his home. The dancer’s movements are in every detail relating to her surrounding. Even though the dancer appears often in front of the camera, she is there to give focus to the architecture. Sometimes she disappears out of the frame, leaving only the architecture to perform. The work is exhibited in two projection tracks, photo and video, showing a similar time line of situations. The video has a static angle but the photos ‘move’ around the house. The photographer is also seen in the video exploring the space, capturing the architecture and on occasion, following the curious dancer.

This work is made possible with the collaboration of Puck van Bogget (dancer/performer), camerawork by Eva Zwart and the approval of Fondation Le Corbusier,
